Rear speakers - basic info please!
#1
NOt being an ICE expert, Ive only managed to change my head unit (Pioneer) in my MY00 so far, but know that the standard fit speakers are letting the side down. I'd like to put some new speakers in the rear (dont want to mess around with door fittings) - but not sure what size or how to get the originals out.
Dont want to have to chop the parcel shelf around - so any recommendations on direct fit replacements??
Thanks

Could I persuade you to change the fronts as that'll make the most difference.
Also, believe it or not, there's less involved in changing them. To change the fronts, you remove the door cards.
To change the rears, you remove the base of the back seat, then the back of the back seat, then the trim where the rear door closes, then the trim around the top of the door. Then - finally - the parcel shelf
For 120 quid you could get a stonking set of front speakers and never worry about replacing the rears unless you felt you wanted a little more bass.

APJ, I'll chip in here done my fronts on my MY93...door cards are basically the door panels / plastic interior trim parts of the door. Backing is cardboard hence the term cards !
Here's a quick run down of how to detach it.
First pull off the triangular bit of trim near the side mirror, then take the plastic door grab handle out by unscrewing the screw inside, then grab an area of the door trim preferably at the bottom and pull gently until you hear something pop. Around the bottom and side edges of the door are many pop-in plastic clips which clip into holes in the metal work behind the panel. Pull the trim gently all round the sides and bottom until they are all detached, then before you take the door panel off remove the plastic surround around the actual door handle. This needs some wiggling to get off without damaging with a screwdriver hence the need to loosen the door panel first by detaching the clips. Once this is off pull the door trim vertically upwards and it should slide off the 3 metal clips which hold it at the edge of the panel near the window. Then undo the wire which connects to the leccy window switches and it should come away. Speaker + wires etc are nicely revealed for the installation to commence!
Hope this helps,
Cheers
