What size speakers for MY97 Sti Scoob?

The existing speakers are 165mm dia. IIRC. Not sure on the depth. You should be able to get some 17cm or some 13cm replacements in there. (I went with 17cm components) Either way will involve a little bit of fiddling about to make them fit nicely. (Nothing to worry about, assuming you have a few tools handy)
I'll put up some pics etc of my install in a few days. (when it's finished!) It's for a MY96, but it should be the same as yours.

17cm,I've just changed my standards to Pioneer TS-G1746.. They were only £44 and a cheap upgrade that sound tons better than the standard cack that subaru supply..

The rears are the same size as the fronts (only a couple of mm in it)
That said, they are screwed on to metal plates, which when removed leave almost, but not quite enough space to easily fit 6"x9" speakers discretely.
I have a template for an MDF/plywood collar that I'll be posting up here when I've tested it with my car if my new speakers ever arrive...
