Question

Ok,

My PC in the car project needs to get moving on... gave up with the ATX power supply, now going for a small APC ups, inverter type setup.

Now looking for a nice 'small' touch screen lcd to put in the front of the car. Have seen this one here which looks quite nice ($549 though ) ..... anyone know of any others that might be available?

Cheers,

Richie.

Richie,

I'll mail you - I think I've found a decent supply of 8" touch screens with controllers...

Drop me a mail if I forget to do this when I get home

The other option is to use a touchscreen overlay. I bought an optical overlay for 20 quid off ebay, and might yet hack that down to fit my screen

Cheers,
Nick.

Cheers Nick. I just gave up on the ATX psu thing in the end. Picked up a Mini ITX 9000 mobo with its 55W psu. Putting together a small APC ups and inverter, so that the PC can recognise when the car is turned off/on, so that it can shut down say after 15 mins on the UPS, then wake up with ring indicator from the UPS (com activity)... hopefully it'll work.... just need to get the bits ordered from dabs/maplin.

How do you interface Kenwood's touch screen with a PC though? I'm not sure if it's possible... Would be interested to find out definitively on this one!

It probably would be with some interface... pic or whatever to interface to the signals/protcol of the Kenwood... but where to get the spec/timing diags/protocol of the Kenwood? Shame really, beacuse there are some nice single din touch screen displays made by car audio peeps.

Never mind touch-screen, where can I find an LCD screen to fit in my car? Want to connect it to my notebook, so that I can have a dash display of delta dash

What sort of output does your PC have? Just VGA? Or composite too? Can you not work a small laptop into your car if that's what you want to do?
