Have you replaced your headunit, by any chance?

The aerial in my 02 WRX is fine - picks up loads of stations...

i had tints fitted and ariel packed up. they replaced tints with different brand - same problem. the guy and his mates in the trade haven't deen this b4. so, maybe some ariels are flakey.

i've just bought a DAB ariel that connects to amplifier in rear and sticks to inside of window, then on the outside is another "pad" that is the ariel - signal is transmitted thru the glass. If it works i'll post pics and part number.

I also got it cos i'm fitting a woodstock in the next couple of weeks.

- Mark.

The reason I ask is that when fitting a new headunit, the rear windscreen aerial needs to be powered and from aftermarket headunits this is marked as the auto aerial lead and is usually disconnected as standard.

Connecting this lead powers the aerial and radio recption is restored.

I have the original radio still fitted. I bought an aerial amplifier from Halfords but it won't fit.

I Have had the windows tinted, but the aerial was crap before I got this done (although I appreciate it would not have helped matters anyway

Is there any way of improving it without spending too much??

DAB ariel was £22

I think you can get a TAX disc ariel for about £12.

Question

mwp

This may sound stupid, but i'm not an ICE expert. Is a Woodstock a DAB system??? Or can you use the DAB aerial on the original factory fitted stereo???

You can use it on factory fitted radio. I've just fitted it today and it works a treat on the crappy factory-fit radio and cures the tints problem

That looks great from the outside. Does the cable on the inside show, or have you hidden it. It looks like its visible in the photo, or is that the light?? Thats not meant in a critisising way.

Cheers

I got it from a mate-of-a-mate who installs ICE. I've txt him for the name of his supplier.

No wires show and the new ariel connects to the aplifier input. we did wire it up to use both, but the tint'd screen ariel still shorted the signal so we took it off.

here are more pics ... Mark

That sounds like the ideal solution.

Thanks for the help and the pics.

the feckin bit on the outside fell off this afternoon ... i'm hoping it's a faulty glue ... i'll see what the supplier says. it might be something to do with the curavature of the screen and getting damp underneath it.

good news is, that it doesn't seem to make a difference not being there !!
