Hellllllllp

I've just completed my second install of speakers, this time in my new MY03 WRX.

I made up 12mm MDF collars for the fronts, used a lot of Brown Bread behind the collar and of the outer doorskin, put some on the plastic sheet along with gaffer tape to damp the resonance there too.

On bassy tracks such as Eminem, Camron even Kylie's dance remixes I seem to get some sort of bassy resonance / distortion from the front speakers (it appears to be more from the passenger side).

Any pointers or help here please

Take the door cards off and work out if it's the speakers in distress or a real rattle.

Then start packing things out

Chiark

What might cause the speakers to be in distress? (Apart from the type of music)

Too much bass - like a loudness control, or the sony DBASS system, or stuff like that.

I found that when wound right up, I had some resonance, it turned out to be caused by the metal rods, which operate the door lock.
I wrapped a piece of 12mm foam around the rods and all is now well.
