What's the best camera warning device ??
#1
Thinking about getting a GPS based 'hazard' warning device. Any opinions on the best one ??
Road Angel ?
Snooper S6 Neo ?
Origin Blue ?
Any pros and cons of each ?
Any advice appreciated

I've never had any bother with the S6-Neo, very good and with the mobile detecting unit mounted under my car at the front, it's on a level with the incoming mobile camera's laser.
And with a massive 15m telephone extension cord, I don't even have to take the GPS part out the car to update, just leave the engine running and plug in the phone lead.

I've got a Road Angel and it 'does exactly what it says on the tin', only ever had 1 or 2 false warnings (on overpasses so could have been cameras on the road below). It does look a little bit 'basic' for what it cost, and it'd be nice if it displayed the speed limit of whatever road you're driving on, like the B2.

Thanks guys. Ended up going for the Origin B2. Found a pretty cheap place if anyone else is looking :
In car express
Good for ICE too

Have looked into this at length and think you made the right choice.
Long phone extension lead?
don't see the point, the origin allows you to remove the unit and it is far smaller and better looking than both the other units.
It need not sit on the dashboard and has a far better display.
The laser detector is far less intrusive and behind the mirror becomes invisible, and the adjustability as well as the smart mode on the origin give it the edge.
smart mode is the facility where the alert only sounds if you are exceding the speed limit.
it also has smart school feature that alerts you when near schools but only at the right time of day and not during the schoolholiday season, plus it has swithcable known accident blackspot alert (read hand held laser warning areas).
Only thing that I don't like is the fact that you can't buy a lifetime subscription yet, but they are working on it.
They allow you to submit suggestions via the website for improvements.
I have recommended lifetime subscription and radio muting on the same principle and software as cellular phone muting.

For the same price as Road Angel you can get a Hand Held PDA from PC World complete with TomTom Sat Nav, car cradle and cables etc for PC hook up.
The Sat Nav is brilliant and easy to move from car to car and the best bit is there are lots of free databases to download with the locations of Speed Cameras. I have Road Angel as well, and I have found that I actually have better coverage from the free databases than the paid one from Road Angel.
As it is a PDA you get lots of other goodies like, up to 2 voice warnings as you approach the hazard at time before arrival to suit - this is better than distance as it is self regulating based on your speed. On top of all that, it will track you through SPECS and show you average speed since you entered the zone - very handy in Nottingham.

Further to my earlier comments about my Road Angel.
Driving down the M4 yesterday morning near Newport i was passing under a bridge at 'making progress' speeds. Looking up at the bridge as i pass under it, i see a blatantly obvious revenue van parked with a scamera pointed at me. Looking back down at the Road Angel i notice that a) the laser detector isn't plugged in and b) my true 'making progress' speed is likely to earn me a nice xmas letter from plod.
Oh well, fair cop i suppose. But a top tip, if you spend the money on whatever type of detector - make sure its plugged in and working!
Merry Xmas!
