Infinity 605CS in 01 WRX - Less bass?
A mate of mine fitted these a few weeks ago for me into the front of my 01 WRX.They sound much better than the standard sh1tty speakers but I've noticed I've lost some bass with them fitted. Is this normal? (Currently running standard head unit)
In the next week or so I will upgrade the head unit to a Blaupunkt MP72 together with the A09 changer. Will replacing the head unit give me any more bass or is there something else I need?
Cheers
Nick

I've got the 655CSi's in my AXGT which are very similar.
Infinities tend to sound bright or splashy. There is a -3DB setting on the x-overs which may help. Running on the standard h/u doesn't help. Running a better h/u is likely to improve matters as it will likely have better power and better EQ. In the end though, it's better to run component sets off a proper amp.
PS: I haven't installed my amp. (infinity RA7502) but the h/u is rated to 50watts per channel. I thought it would be enough, it isn't! I'm also on the lookout for some rear fill speakers.

Make sure they are not 'out of phase'
One way to test this is to have the music turned up and put the fader onto the infinities, then put the balance fully to the left or right, if the bass increases then they are out of phase.
In that case, take out the speakers and check the polarity of the connections and swap one of them around.
Put the fader and balance settingsd back to your presets, sit back and enjoy
