Amp advice asap please...!!!
Hi all as per a previous post I have a cousin in America coming over to see me soon who is willing to bring me over an amp. Looking to improve my system by putting some Focal components in the fronts and was looking at a boxed 10" sub in the rear but now after research think that the Genesis 6x9s may well be better suited for me as I don't need thumping bass just good sound quality, punchy bass and I hear these are excellent for that purpose.
My question is this. When I was looking at components and a sub I was considering 2 seperate amps, one for the components, one for the sub. If I go for just the components and the 6x9s would I still need 2 amps or could I get a 4 channel amp to do the job instead? And how powerful an amp? For a 4 channel was looking along the lines of a Rockford Fosgate 551X or is this overkill?
Please give me your opinions asap as if I don't get this ordered to her soon I'm gonna miss out altogether! Many thanks in advance, this ICE game is a headache!!!

if your goin 6*9s and components, then yes a four channel will do the job fine. and four channel will also be good enough if you decide to run the fronts witha 10" sub, jus bridge the rear channels of the amp to power the sub...

Dan have you made a decision on your set-up yet? What model Focal's are you getting and where are you getting them from? It sounds like you're going down the same route as me with Focal component fronts and 6 x 9 rears. I'll probably use my existing 2 channel amp to run the fronts until I can afford a 4 channel to run the lot

Well it looks like it's turning out that I won't be getting anything from America now! Last weekend I bought myself a JL e6450 6 channel amp off a guy from eBay for £200 he'd hardly used it and had the receipt for £400 so now I just need to decide on speakers. Was going for the Focals but after doing some research am v confused now there's so many choices! Also still stuck on what to do for bass, whether to go for a sub in the boot or the Genesis subs in the rear shelf!
Starting to wish I'd never decided to upgrade my ICE it's taking forever just to choose the right setup and then god knows how I'm gonna install it all! The joys...!
