Cool 16.5 into 16 DOES go!

Just finished replacing my OE front speakers in a classic, '98 car.

I now have Sony 1731 3-way units at 16.5cm diameter, and they sound MUCH better.

The fit wasn't direct, but they went in by making some spacer rings from MDF, which fit using the original 3 holes, then screwing the speakers to the MDF.

While I was at it I put sound deadening into the front doors too.

Now all that remains is to replace the rears with the Sony 6x9's I have in my wardrobe, (hidden from wifey: )

What did you use for soundproofing out of interest? Dynamat or one of the cheaper alternatives?

Flashing tape from B&Q..........couldn't be arsed to order though Screwfix.
