Hi peeps,

Cant believe it. After years of hankering after a scooby, it is mine on saturday (my precious lol) However no stereo.

Can anyone recommend a nice head unit that has cd, cdr, mp3 capability with snapoff front?

Ideally im just after a nice basic, vfm unit that does the stuff above. Any online retailers ?

The 2004 Sony range offers best VFM in my opinion. I bought mine from www.mcs-direct.co.uk and highly recommend them.

Do check out the Pioneer DEH P77MP though - it's a fantastic unit and currently on special offer over on www.caraudiodirect.co.uk at £229.99. The same headunit is currently sitting in Halfrauds at £399.99!

I to have Sony (CDXMP40) kit in a new WRX, much better than the existing kit. Only problem is that it looks a little wierd as is a single instead of a double unit.

Fascia pulls off and the MP3 side of things is excellent - 140 tracks on one CD - Great.

I would also recommend the above unit. My experiences of Sony ICE has not been favourable so I myself stay away from them.

Have a Blaupunkt MP72 MP3 head unit in my 01 WRX together with the A09 cd changer.Looks very nice and fits in nicely in the double din aperture...
Sound quality is MILES better than the original crappy head unit plus I've upgraded the front speakers to Infinity 605CS's
Have a look at http://www.bluespot.co.uk/stock/losangeles.asp as they seem to be the cheapest for this or www.caraudiodirect.co.uk

Good luck

Nick

Nick,
The set up you have looks fantastic, I was and still am thinking of the same but have been put off somewhat by my local car audio specialist who doesn't rate the reliability of Blaupunkt. Have you had any probs at all?

Well my Pioneer has arrived today and I must say it's a beauty! For SQ I think it's hard to beat for the money.
