I'd just spend time tidying up wires etc. AND CLEAN THE BOOT!!!

And sort out the edge of that amp box that's sitting in front of the subwoofer!!

personally.. I would remove the subs from the box.. cut a piece of mdf to fit around the edge of the boot.. up to the parcel shelf.. and then cut the sub holes into it.. seal it to the box.. (ie pull carpet off.) lots of screws through.. then retrim the hole boot in one piece of carpet.. (same colour..) and round any sharp corners off.. (stick the neon behind perspex at the edge.. so it lights up an engraved logo?)..

my 2pence..

edited to add.. then reinstall the subs..

Power is no substitute for big fck off subs

What a mess

do I see 6*9's in their - why? - they would be useless

Subs are better placed the other way......IMHO

You can put a couple of brackets on the Sub box and secure these to the metal/bulkhead to stop the sub box from moving.............

What subs were they? - Halfords own

So Fangoria are you saying that the subs facing tight up against the back seat would give a better sound and would you need a ported box for that setup? My two 10" Alpine subs fire into the boot on a sealed box and sound fairly good but its interesting you reckon they need to face the other way. I was on the understanding that the subs worked by moving air. If thats the case they will surely move less air if they are facing the seats than the other way.

Ouch... Alpine thats what I thought

Why dont you just try it whilst sat in the car - if you think it doesnt sound right then go back to how it was before

Mines a sealed box - but 2*12 (Daimond - yeah I like Diamond subs but they are about £300 each ++) - I had 2*10's (Daimond - which are much more powerful than Alpine - but didnt give me enough bass - the 2*12's are just about there......you could go for decent bass but the you'd need to spend about £2k on a decent amp to power them)

I have the same set up as you but only because I have a board where the seatbacks where with 2 Genesis amps on them and dont want the subs facing the Amps!! and I cant be bothered changing the boot area........ again..... (It was bad enough taking the front door inserts off for about 10 times trying to find the right front speakers........

I have heard a set up facing the seats and it sounded better than mine. I have also tried the 'facing up one' - not so good - rattled the bootlid to bits - problem you have is that facing back it fires the subs at the rather thin boot/spoiler areas which rattles a lot and doesnt sound too great

You'd get much better sound anyway if you removed the 6*9's and created some space for the Sub 'bass' to come through as the boot in a Scoob is far from ideal (read awful) - this is one solution that does work - I removed some decent 6*9's and found that the overall sound quality was better with more Bass..... maybe because the Subs effeted the movement of the 6*9's as well

But hey....I'm a novice - Dave Wallis and Chiark are the experts here - its a case of - if it sounds ok go with it..............

I cant really change my setup round as Its a full build including amps and dvd and also ps2 and Video. I also have spent about £500 sound deadening the car aswell. Which I know is no where near enough at minute. I might try taking the 6x9`s out. The only reason I used Alpine is it was all out of a demo vehicle when I bought it second hand. Thats all I could afford. I would be very interested in what setup you have up front as The components up front are ok but I think i could probably get better. But there again I need to spend even more money on sound deadening again.

My car has so much dynamat in it that I'm sure thats the reason it goes slow around the track (plus its only lighted modded)

I have Dynn Audio components - 6.5inch (the crossovers can be a pain to put in as they are quite big)

Tweeters - hole cut about 6 inches above the component positioning

The components were not cheap but I didnt feel at £400 that they were that expensive either (given I spent £300 on a front set of Focal Polykevlars - the Dynns are in a differnt league)

Only issue is that they do take a fair bit of amping - I have had to bridge a 4 channel Genesis amp and am pumpimg about 170wrms through each front speaker/tweeter!! - compared to the Focals which only required and could probably only take half this amount - but you get nice home hifi sound...and quality.......

Lightwater valley....... no dont think its for me........

I was at Elvington the other week and pretty bored......probably because my sti5 was off the road waiting for Discs and Calipers (AP) to be rectified.... so I had come to come in my crappy runaround (MY04WRX!) - would have liked to take part just for a laugh - would not have got much better than about 12 secs though

I will be at WL on 4th July........

4th July - that gives me circa 3 weeks to get Turbo/Fit and get mapped..... then I'll have a td05/06 for sale....... got 420bhp with this at G Force.......
