One for the techies?
In house Hi-Fi, but possible ICE, related question.
I'm soon to pick up a Quad CD-Pre player feeding direct to a Quad 909 Power Amp. The CD player has 6 digital inputs (Mini Disk etc) utilising the onboard DAC and switchable from the remote.
The lack of the £750 Pre-amp stage means that my turntable is now without a phono stage.. As this is the only reason I'd buy it, it is well OTT for an OK phono stage. Especially as I'm looking at tubes etc for this area....
Question is, and after some fruitless searching, can anyone reccomend a pre-built A/D converter or passive A/D pre-amp with volume control that I can use to get the analogue into S/PDIF or TOSLINK etc? There may be some ICE related kit that will do the job?
I know this isn't the normal way to listen to vinyl, but this is a temporary fix whilst I recover some funds to get a better deck, cheap-ish pre-amp and decent phone stage. Not to mention better speakers..
Edited to say my price range is <£100.
