5.25 or 6.5

My local ICE shop gave me the wrong door speaker adaptors.
They are 130mm (so a 5.25 speaker, right?) and I ordered the 165mm ones.
Now, if it wasn't for the fact that I slabbed loads of sound proofing on them before I realised it was the wrong item, I'd be going back saying 'look, this is wrong', but as it is now, I can't be arsed![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)
Anyway, the question is, would there a huge difference in sound between similarily priced speakers if one was 5.25 and the other was 6.5? I don't want any bass from them really, as I'll be using a high pass filter set at 120Hz to cut out any bass anyway.
Are the Infinity References any good in 5.25?

Yes... its also the law of diminishing returns... a well installed system needs to have a lot more cash thrown at it to sound any better.
Just take your time, make sure no corners are cut and it will sound great.

Ok, I've gone ahead and ordered the Infinity Reference 5000CS now... Will hopefully install it in the weekend, time and weather permitting.
I also have this crappy old 2x100W (allegedly) amp... Will I be best off using that, or should I use the stereo's internal amp? Basically, I don't see myself playing really loud, but will an amp still be better? I'm guessing that the internal 4x40W (yeah right) is more like 4x7W anyway, right?
Using the external amp would be good I guess, because I get to play with the active X-over I bought from e-bay for a tenner
