speakers first head unit later
Trying to get some better tuneage out of my jdm kenwood new age double unit so the plan is to :- change the speakers then change the head unit later.
So its off to halfords later and get the following :- infinity 605 for the front £100 and infinity 6*9 for the rear shelf £49 yes or no , am I going down the right road with this? dont want to go down the road of major ice build just a fairly decent sound .

Sounds like a good start to me mate, I'm running a pair of pioneer 6910 6x9's in the back through a pioneer p77mp mp3 player and to be honest I was considering a sub aswell, but I'm that pleased with the sound as it is I'm not gonna bother! Presume your car is a saloon? If so 6x9's will sound fat due in part to the metal lining beneath the shelf, so yes pal I think you're going down the right road!!
Incidentally is your car classic shape or newer? just wondered what size speakers you've bought for the doors as I've got some 17cm components I wanna put in but not sure how they'll fit...

front door speakers are 6" /16cm i think ? anyway people seem to be using them on here with sucess but you do need to make a mdf spacer though as the window fouls the speaker otherwise. dont quote me on this but reading the threads it seams to be the case.

Dont worry to much about rears concentrate on the front you could even leave the rears stock (they are only there for reverb anyway), people tend to put put big speakers in the rear because it's easy but when you go to a concert where does the sound come from?
It is more tricky to fit good fronts but it's worth the effort...Ideally you want the music to sound as though it comes from the top of your dash.

I've actually just had some pioneer 17cm door speakers fitted, a spacer and slight modifications to the door fittings was required, but the window still goes down fully and they sound much better than the factory crap that was decaying in there before! (although the people that fitted my speakers have subsequently f*cked my head unit up but thats a different story)
