Speaker replecment without HU upgrade?
I have just taken ownership of a 52 Toyota Corolla after selling the ITR a couple of weeks back and the teg had a fairly high end ICE Setup ( no amps or subs due to weight though! ).
Now the Corolla seems to have possibly the worse quality sound I have ever been subjected to. And due to HU being a massive pain to replace due to it being a built in one, I was wondering if theres much point in changing the speakers alone, or will the HU be such a bottleneck theres no point?

Speakers are generally the weak link, although the old adage "garbage in, garbage out", will be true if the HU is crap.
Any idea who makes the OE HU?
Also, sound deadening in doors, boot etc will help.

The problem being for some reason in all their glory the toyota makers decided the only way of taking the HU unit out is via taking the whole centre console to piece as a few of the toyota forum lads have done.
But it still has a year warranty and the garage will invalidate it if I do, and I darent ask how much they would charge seeing as their a £50 a hr garage! They wont notice if I just change the speakers.
