Speaker Upgrades for a MY00 Classic
I am looking to replace to poor speakers in my Classic to compliment a new Alpine head Unit I have just had fitted. I would like to know, firstly what is the biggest size rear speakers it is possible to fit in the rear without cutting any metal, I’ve been told 6.5 components fit, is this true? Secondly what front speakers will fit without any/too much modification? The head unit I have brought had to be wired to the battery because its 60watts, does this mean I can power front and rear components without the need of an additional amp? Any advice welcome.

Allright pal, I managed to get 6x9s on my back shelf with the use of an 18mm spacer, although the fitting shop had already cut bigger holes in the metal before realising they needed to use spacers
If you want big noise in the back go for the 6x9s altho get a pro to make sure they will go in without cutting just to be sure!
Upgraded the front speakers aswell to some 17cm pioneer components, again I got an audio shop to fit them for me and again they needed to use spacers so if you're wanting to do the fitting yourself it would be best to double check!
Depending on the power of your speakers the alpine should run them ok, Im running 330w 6x9s and 220w components from a Pioneer p77mp head unit although I am considering amping the 6x9s up in the near future to see if it improves the bass as I have noticed a drop in their output since the components have been installed.
Hope some of this helps??

I've fitted Pioneer 17 1/2cm components in me front doors using home made spacers from mdf... well worth doing... tweeters are mounted on the panel covering the door mirror fixings...
Vibe 6x9's in the rear shelf... again mdf spacers were used... they sound awesome... these are all amped up using a 4 channel pioneer amp...
In the boot I've got 2x12 inch Vibe subs in the Vibe twin box... These were worth every penny if you're into your bass... these are powered by a 2 channel MTX amp...
And a Sony head unit up front with 1 sub out and 2 pre outs...
The quality of the vocals is ace, although it can make the car rattle like f**k if you want it too...
Next investment will be some sound deadening...!!!!
