Unhappy Help - Alpine HU install

Hi, I've not tried it yet but am about to install an alpine HU into my 05 sti. I bought the isolead adaptor hoping it'll all be plug and play but it appears not! Can anybody give me a quick idiots guide for all the additional wires etc and where to connect them upto?

P.S It's a 9855 HU
Thanks
Andrew

Take a look in the FAQ thread.... as there's some loose info on wiring.

I fitted a 9847R a few weeks ago in my 04.

The ISO lead will take care of everything... except for the phone mute, the dimmer feed and one other that I can't remember.

The only one I was interested in was the dimmer feed, so being a cheapskate I cut the feed away from the ISO lead and connected the wire (using a connector) to the dimmer feed on the Alpine. (You could do a proper job and connect the dimmer feed wire from the Alpine into the ISO block)

It's either the Orange or Yellow wire, but the ISO lead should have the wording on the wire.... something like 'Illumination'.

The Alpine manual will also give you the wiring layout and colours at the end of the English section.

Hope that helps?

J.

Have you tried not using the isolead and connecting directly to from the head unit to the plugs from the car?

In my friends RB5 and P1 you didn't need an iso lead for his alpine headunit!?
