Dimming headlights
Morning guys,
Having installed my new 10" JL sub this weekend (powered by an Alpine MRV 505 V12 amplifier), I drove round with the tunes cranked up only to notice that my headlights dim an alarming amount!
I have experienced this before, but on older cars and when sat at tickover with other electrical bits n bobs running - but this is happening to the scoob with no other load on the cars electrics and at 4000rpm+!!!
Slightly worried, as when i really turn it up I experience dimming interior lights etc. I realise this is the result of massive current draw, but what can I do to stop it? Will fitting a capacitor to the amplifier powering the sub cure this, or do I have to look at more drastic options?
Edit to say, car is a 2004 (54 plate) WRX, UK car, if that makes any difference.

i had the same dimming on a standard 05wrx head unit!!!!
have you done "the big 3 Upgrade" ?
1. the battery negative to chassis cable
2. the alternator to battery positive cable
3. thechassis to engine cable
I added (extra) 4awg versions of the above to the standard wiring and have had not a hint of dimming (running sub amp and 4channel amp)
That would be a good place to start before adding a cap.
Hope that helps
