Decent 12" (ooh err)
I'm looking for a serious 12" sub after i managed to blow up my rockford HX2 DVC 15"!
I will be running it off a directed 1100d mono amp (hence the blown up rockford), what do you suggest and where from?
If you don't know this amp it rates at 1100w RMS into 1 ohm or 800w RMS into 2 ohm, so a sub which can handle these please.

inphase 12" got tested at 700w rms, my son has one in his Impreza on a 350w rms amp, and it shakes the hell out of me... so i can imagine it being rather hefty with full power!
apart from that a rockford fostgate T212D2? 1000w rms i believe

i am running the jbl w12 gti sub in my scoob and thats a beast, they are cheaper than the w7 at around £450 mark, another very good make of subs are R.E they do a sub called XXX, and that is a very good sub,
or you could try the jackhammer from mtx, but i think your amp will only just make it more lol as this is 1 masive **** sub
have a loot at www.caraudiodirect.co.uk this is prob one of the best places you will find for car audio on the net, and they have a forum as well
hope this helps m8

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
Cerwin Vega used to be ok at taking a spanking..
Alternatively you could turn the gain down.... NAH!

RE XXX gets my vote. Another option would be the DD stuff... The XXX is possibly a bit more subtle in its sound, though others would say the same about the DD
Or, if you've got the cash, then Cerwin Vega have released a Stroker Pro for the small sum of a dollar short of $1700...
Make sure you're not sending a clipped signal to the sub tho, no matter what you choose, and make sure your enclosure is strong enough!
Do you know why the Rockford failed? Voice coil burnout?

Definitely haven't got the cash! Was hoping to spend in the region of £300 max, the RE SX12 is rated at 1000w RMS which is plenty and so is the alpine SWX12 so both possibilities. DD though , forgot about them.
Clipped signal? Don't know what this means.
The rockford lost cone suspension and just ended up farting away, not sure of the cause. I'm rubbish i know

From: Nottingham - HEY scumbag, leave my scoob alone!!!
I have an RE SX12(just short of £300) in my scoob on a Viper(Directed) 600.1d(600w RMS into 1 ohm) , its enough for me, shakes merry hell out of the car and sounds fantastic. On a 1100d amp this sub would be total mind blowing. Mines in a ported 2.5 CuFt box, tuned to 30Hz.
I too killed a 15" rockford HX2 DVC sub, the solder that connects the voice coil to the leads actually melted , I managed to remove the dust cap and resolder the connections but it failed after a couple of weeks, suspension collapsed so it was replaced with the RE , this sub sounds BETTER than the Rockford, tighter, lower and a dam sight more power.
