I have been offered a 4130 ???? Cd with remote. New from a dealer who will close next week . He wants £150.00
How good are these units ?????
They seem to be well made and of a simple design. Are they reliable???? etc.

Spent today fitting "Nakamichi" cross over and "Soundstream" amp.Sound deadening Spare wheel area. Whats a good way of fixing a amp mounted on thin M.D.F under the passenger seat.Velcro?????

Cheers

Hi Luke - a quick search seems to reveal the Rockford unit as a good 'un. I seem to recall that they're actually a rebrand and slight customisation of another major brand, but can't remember which.

For the amp mounting, I'd go for screwing into the floor with self tappers, after checking that there's nothing vital underneath there!

Makes it a lot more difficult to steal as well!

When I bought my scoob, I found a Caliber amp (didn't work) underneath the passenger seat. All the previous owner had done was glued a piece of ply wood to the floor and then screwed the amp down to the ply with the carpet in between. saved drilling holes through your floor. the only downside to amps under the seat is that they can get hot.

Well I knew it was going a bit to good.....
Fitted "Soundstream" 4 ch. Amp .Never used
FAULTY!!!!!(lets be fair it can happen) Anyway they are based down the road from me So I took it in today and fingers crossed it should be back soon (Watch this space...)
So out with the "Punch"40 and "Genesis"sm30
I am sure the "Soundstream" will be better for the "DLS" front speakers than the"Genesis" but will the bridged side run a "JL" 8W6 duel voice coil as well as the "Punch" 40???? One of the guys there ,Jason (Ex Mike Wells Ltd) sold me the "Sounstream". he was a bit trick with the old sounds (he is in Germany at the moment racing a E30 M3). So I hope this will ease the repair time and bill.

So Chiark ,get the R/F head unit you say???
Also how do I take out the seat to instal the amps. I thought about mounting amps to board and a large "Blob" of the old silicon to hold it to the carpet.

Next will be custom made sub box complete with rubber mat top (It is going in rear footwell behind drivers seat firing upwards) so that folk can put their feet on it!!

Taking the seat out is very simple: there's just four bolts. Two can be seen at the front, and two are on the rear sliders under plastic covers that just pull off horizontally.

Silicon on carpet? Sounds like a mess to me but I've never tried it. A few self tappers, or nuts and bolts, would get my vote.

Sub box sounds a good idea. Let us know how you get on with it!
