I have spent quite a bit on my ICE and thinking about upgrading again, only this time Iam a bit out of my depth. Currently I have top of the range Kenwood 9080R headunit with 10 Disc Changer, Speakers - Diamond Hex components up front with Rockfords in rear. A McDaddy 10" Sub and three Kenwood amps 301,401 and 501's. Great sound but I want better - I have been reccommended the following - a PLD1 Proline Driver with a EQ2151x, a cap and bass cube for the sub and some door sound proofing. All in all about a grand. Iam realy a bit of a novice about all this stuff so if we have some guys who are into this - HELP please

SM ,

A Bass cube is a must , I was running 4 x 12" infinity reference subs off a Kenwood 816 (about 300 watts RMS) mono amp , was getting 142Db (remembering these were bottom of Infinity range subs) , I installed a Caliber Bass CUBE and the difference in the bass was awesome , my ears were tingling for another two weeks before I got used to it , unfortunately I don't know exactly what results the CUBE gave , but the sound travelled a lot further . I am currently installing my Scooby with 2x 12" Long throw subs , My Genesis Monoblock amp (1200 watts RMS), which is going to be controlled by the bass CUBE , it's going to be a tight fit , but it will be worth it . Don't bother buying the Rockford Fosgate bass CUBE as it is the same as the Caliber article but more expensive , expect to pay around £150 , also the model No. of the Caliber bass CUBE is 'CXQ3' . Try the bass cube before adding a Pro Line Driver as it does what a line driver does and more.

Yup,the bass cube will help, along with a cap and sound deadening never hurts. And there are always alternatives to RF.I'm not bashing them, only their prices.
Nate,you're running about what I'm running for subs.4 12" MTX and 1000 w/rms.It's SICK!
Check this thing out.Got bass?

I am knocking RF.

ditch the rear speakers,

1. rear stereo is bad,

2. Rockford stuff is pants.

Have to agree re bass cube, and if bass is what you are after a cap is a good idea too.

I may actually have a spare 1 farad cap somewhere.

I would advise changing the amplification.

without knowing how you have it set up I cannot be sue what you need, but I have never been impressed with the quality of their high output amps.

Think you would really appreciate a great sounding amplifier. such as genesis, phoenix gold, or soundstream.

You have a good source and great speakers, but the amps really are not up to the rest of the system.

I think this would makle more of an impact and would leave you room to do the things you suggest next time.

Rockin' Ru,

To call the Terminator a BEAST would be far from what it really is , not sure about the performance figures on it though , I think I prefer my Scooby .
