Default Classic Infinity Fronts

I have searched and read a lot of posts regarding Infinity front speakers.

I am looking for quality front speakers to replace the standard ****e ones on a MY00 classic.

From what I can gather, the Infinity 605CS were the weapon of choice but they are now discontinued.

Am I right in saying that the Infinity 6000CS replaced them, and will fit without any MDF spacers into the standard enclosures?

Also, the 6010CS replace these - both seem to be still available.

I have read some older posts saying standard spacers are fine, and some saying MDF are needed.

I want quality speakers for about £100, with minimum fuss - i.e. ideally direct replacement with no MDF stuff.

Any advice gratefully received.

Since I posted this, I had a couple of PMs from M1BJR (cheers mate!) with some pics on fitting the 6010s into a MY00 - so go for those!

Haven't done this myself yet but will be shortly.

I'm also interested in changing the front speakers. So is the 6010cs recommended? I have a MY98 UK Turbo.

Do the 6010s go straight in then? No spacers or anything?

Any chance of these pics being forwarded?

Thanks

Pics are at home, if I remember I can forward them on or host them - I am sure M1BJR wouldn't mind.

I don't think spacers are needed at all - but I still haven't done this yet myself.

M1BJR if you are out there - enlighten us!

Read the FAQ, go look at Ozzy's and Chiark's websites. Lots of info. including how to get the door cards off, route cables etc.

The standard speakers are weird looking things incorporating a spacer into the speaker shell/surround.

There aren't "Standard spacers" as such. Build MDF ones, re-use the standard speaker "shells" after ripping out the cone bit or adapt an Autoleads Vauxhall Corsa spacer (that Halfords sell).

If you need to use MDF, 12mm should do the job.
