Question Screwing into the headcloth?

If you want to fit a TV in on the roof, would it be best to remove the headlining anf glue a bit of wood in or just screw in to the lining?

Thanks

best way is to glue a piece of mdf to the roof behind the head lining cloth use something like no more nails and leave it overnight to dry.

As LB says

Whilst you've got the headlining out, might be worth adding sound deadening

To remove it all i'd say its a big job especially if its not a wagon where are u planning to mount the screen and what size is it? If its to be mounted near the interior light u may get away with removing the light and just using small blocks of mdf (say 50mm squares of 18mm)at the mounting points so you can put them under the lining through the hole where the light was.

Screw into the head lining?

My advice would be NO!

or maybe.....
Yes give it a go but make sure you use long enough screws 3" to 4" is ideal

I fitted the screen below by simply removing the standard light fitting and cutting holes/slots in the headling for the cables.
The standard light mounts to a strengthening plate between the roof lining and the roof skin, the mounting hole pitch was not too far from the mounting hole pitch for the screen so i carefully drilled some new holes and that was it.

Good to see the mounting was sufficiently strong to survive a roll!
