Default Car Sound System Troble

Well, I was searching on google and found this site, so I will post here..

I had my sound system for awhile it was extremly good, it's a sony xplod, I have 1 sub and 1 amp... One day I was driving while listening to it, and I wasn't blasting either, then all of a sudden everything shut down.. I turned it back on and it was making this weird noise like if I was first hooking up my cd player trying to see which wire went to what speaker, then a few minutes l8er it made whinining noises and then pops... I have no idea whats wrong and I cant get any sound either, I checked all wires, ground remote, speakers,RCA jacks, fuses etc.. Plus, my amps goes in Power Protect mode after a few seconds.. I checked everything even tryed a new player and stuff, I ran out of ideas... It's got alot of air around it, but their was one time it got really hot quickly then I turned it off again and waited a couple minutes then turned it back on, and it was fine....... Any help or tips can be extremly usefull, thanks....

try disconnecting the sub from the amp, if it goes into protection still, the amp is goosed, if it's ok, try another speaker and see if that works, then obv'ly the speaker is goosed.

I tryed it, still does the same thing when I remove the Sub, and I tryed a new speaker that was still good but didn't use it, it didn't make any sound at all.... I just don't get it actually... It's confusing. Any Ideas?

Also tried a new amplifier?
If you allready checked all wires then it might be the amplieifer or the Pre-Outs of the headunit.
