Question

CHEERS CHAPS

I THINK I WILL GIVE THE 7 X 10'S A MISS AND FIT A PAIR OF 6.5" INSTEAD.

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS ?

They will fit, but will stick out like a sore thumb saying "I have an aftermarket stereo, possibly a bucketload of amps, cd changer, ..."

Personally, I'd leave the rears alone, or fit some 6.5" drivers in there.

And if it's a high spec setup, why have sound coming from the rear?

Just to clarify the previous point: you will need a spacer ring, hence this is what makes 'em stick out.

On my former car sti VI coupe to avoid the speakers being on show. I fitted some infinity Kappa 6x9 underneath the rear deck using the spacer ring that came with them. I removed and then cut some holes into the cardboard/felt material of the rear shelf as it had none! Then I covered this with some acoustic cloth. So end result was some speakers giving rear fill and not on show to prying eyes.
cheers ian
