ipod tape connector
Hi
I have just picked up my new WRX type UK and she runs like a dream! One problem, which I was hoping those in the know might help me with. Having spent all my hard earned cash on the car, there is very little spare to sort out an ipod connector....
I've tried a monster and a belkin connector that runs via the tape deck, but the player spits both of the tapes out. I've tried normal tapes in it, which work fine.
Can anyone advice which ipod tape connector works with my scooby? I've got a video ipod and the standard subaru radio/tape/cd.
Cheers!

I think it's got something to do with the pinch roller tension - inside the tape adaptor there'll be a little wheel on a spring (to one side of the tape 'head' in the middle).
What's happening is this is too stiff, and so the head unit thinks the tape has jammed/stopped - it should try to 'play' the other side (auto-reverse), find that that is also jammed, so eject the tape.
I've heard people have had success removing the spring from behind the wheel, or bending it so it isn't so stiff.
I replaced the HU with an Alpine and iPod adaptor though, so I didn't try this for myself.

Cheers for that. If I want to take the Belkin & monster connectors back for a refund I don't really want to start bending them in case they still don't work and I then can't get my refund. Has anyone bought a tape connector that works straight from the packet?
I know I should enter this century and get a decent system rather than relying on a tape, but need to sort out some tunes while I'm saving up!
Thanks

The sensitivity to jammed cassettes is to blame; the HU is over-keen to reject the adaptor. I would be very suprised if the dealer even knew what was going on, let alone had a solution.
Seeing as the adaptors are only about £10, wouldn't it be worth trying to hack it and make it work?

If you have the standard Kenwood Subaru headunit the Kenwood iPOD adaptor plugs straight in the back.... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthrea...ight=ipod+psi3

I tried three of them; Halfords, Dixons and Maplin (sorry; can't remember the makes) and none of them worked I'm afraid.
i plug it into my phone and use my car as my handsfree kit!
