Default MY03 STi Door Speakers

Can someone recommend good bass speakers to replace the standard ones and advise what size I need?

There's some good stuff in the FAQ sticky thread, if you haven't checked there already...

Think the Infinity components seem to be the way to go. Gonna fit a set in mine this week.

All info is in the FAQ (I believe the 03 is the same as an 05 as far as the ICE is concerned)...

The infinity units are not the bassiest ones around. There's a post below somewhere giving details of some Sony units.

Thanks mate, will look again, does anyone know about the MDF thing?

Do I need to make them like they have?

Yes, and yes.

Although you can also buy them from the company listed in my post about replacing the rear 'speakers in my 05 wrx (again, in the faq...).

Some people have had success with some plastic Autoleads (?) Vauxhall Corsa spacers; do a search on 'Corsa' and it might turn up the info.

Infinity 6000cs's 6.5", with a 12mm mdf spacer. On my 03sti.
You can see the crossover wrapped in bubble wrap and velcro'd to the door.
Tweeter is also velcro'd to the old nounting bracket, very handy stuff.

Hope it helps.

Default Infinity speakers/spacers

I have some Infinity Kappa 65.7cs speakers for sale that are £250 rrp which are only a couple of months old and in as new condition. I bought spacers from IAPerformance in the states and I will include these together with rear ones that allow 5.25" speakers. £100 for the lot. I have some pictures if you are interested. The reason for sale is that I have had some custom door pods built and much deeper speakers installed (Kenwood 25th Anniversary) so these are no longer req'd.

Thanks

Ian

lol, you'll be asking me to buy and install them for you next...

My post titled "05 WRX Sony XS-F1334 Rear 'Speaker Fitting"

Has this link:

http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=467244

Which starts off saying:

"Okay, finally got round to doing something about the woefull units in the rear.

First off, I'm only using a HU for amplification so I haven't gone mad. I've chosen Sony XS-F1334 units, coupled with an adaptor ring from here:

http://www.iaperformance.com/catalog_subaru.asp"

The bit after the 'http' is a link.

Click it and you get to a company selling what you're after.

(edit - they've changed their site. Try this: http://www.iaperformance.com/product...oducts_id/1482)

What are cross overs ?

They look damn complex !

Whats the difference between these and just shoving a speaker in the old hole ?

Sorry for my ignorance, but hoping to upgrade mine soon once I have fitted my head unit.

Then make your own for a lot less. Guess where full details are...

Did you do a search for the corsa spacers? Or were you waiting for someone to do it for you?

Dunno, but wouldn't you be better off getting components (i.e. a woofer and a tweeter) to match what's already fitted?

If you check the FAQ (ha ha) you'll find details of what fits, including spacer sizes necessary etc. By finding out the sizes of the units in the FAQ posts you'll then be able to suss out if whatever alternative unit will fit and what spacer it'll need.

Crossovers send lows to the big speaker and highs to the tweeter.
A must with components.

spoon-feed: verb 1 to feed (eg a baby) with a spoon. 2 a to supply someone with everything they need or require, so that any effort on their part is unnecessary; b to create a learning situation where information, etc is given out in such a way that the pupils or students do not have to put in any original thought or research.
