Default Pioneer DEH-P77MP

Right just a quick question on the off-chance that someone can help me...

I've had this in the car for about a year now and its brilliant, but I had a problem last night that I've never noticed before. Now, until now I've only ever really played mp3 discs in it, but yesterday I got leant a disc from a friend which was full of .wma tracks. When I whacked it in it flashed up 'format read', as it always does when you insert a CD/mp3 disc...but then nothing, no error message or anything like that, it just doesn't do anything. Now I know it should be able to play .wma files, it says it on the front of the unit to reinforce this...so if anyone has any ideas as to why it won't play them it would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

James

I had the same problem with WMA... Pioneer never gave me a proper answer.. I tried loads of different versions of windows media player and never got it to work only with mp3's if someone has managed to get WMA to work I'll eat my hat...

Most likely reason is that the WMA's were ripped using windows media player 10 (the latest version)

Got a Pioneer head unit myself DEH8400 and this read WMA files ripped in media player 9 then when microsoft upgraded to media player 10 it stopped being able to read them. Very annoying as this problem has been around for at least a year and a half and Pioneer still don't seem to have sorted it yet. Even the latest bluetooth pioneer H/U fitted to the Spec D wont read em.

My wifes JVC £80 head unit reads them fine

I believe I tunes has the facility to change the format for you. Plus its free to download !

I've got the microsofts digital media plus add on which has all sorts of toys but costs about £20 to download.
