DVD-Audio 5.1 Surround in car
#2
Put AC3/DTS via an optial link into an alpine H701 and it will. That means if you go for a head unit that doesn't then providing it's got an optical out, you can add a processor that will do. I'm using a 701 to process DTS from an in-car PC - or will be when I get around to finishing the install
As for head units, the JVC KD-AVX2 will do and probably others too - have a browse on a decent ICE seller site (caraudiodirect isn't bad, or try emailing PSI3) and some up with a shortlist.

Good find! Most of the DTS heads are over £600. I also found this -

An alpine centre speaker that fits in a single DIN slot.
Now all I need is a 5.1 amp, subwoofer, four other speakers and a new car to install it in.

Kenwood do a DIN centre speaker like that too.
Blimey, you still need the car? At least I'm a bit more down the line than that, but on the other hand I've had it for a year now and it's still not all installed
