Question

Ok, got the scoob last month and put in my head unit and cd changer straight away. Now I've got to bin the terrible speakers!!!
So far I've been looking at:

Alpine SPR-175A or SPR-135A (front doors)
Infinity Ref505Cs or Ref605Cs (front doors)
Kenwood PSR50P or PSR70P (front doors)
Kenwood KFCPSR700 (Rear Shelf)
Pioneer TSE1795 (Rear Shelf)

Anyone got any opinions on the above? The head unit is 4x40w Sony but I've also got a 150wx4 Pioneer amp which I could power them with.......

Cheers Neil.

My money, despite not having heard the particular models, would be swayed towards the Infinity as I find they work well in real-world situations...

Ref 605s...

Nick.

Id go for the 605cs in the front aswell m8.
Ive just fitted some myself and they improve the sound quality noend. Good mid range.

They are a doddle to fit aswell, come with the correct spacer, so fit into the factory moulds without any problems and theres just enough room to fit the crossover unit.

Dont know about the rear speakers, I havent changed them yet, Im looking at doing this very soon and would also be interested in what people thought.

Cheers.

I bought some Kenwood PSR700 for the rear in Halfords yesterday - 79.99, they're 95 quid mail order so I was well impressed!!
Had a listen and they sounded nice, and hardly weigh anything!!

I've decided to get the Infinities in the front, cheers for the advice. MCS Direct recommended 655cs for the front for 84.99, do you know what the difference is between them and the 605's?

Thanks, Neil.

I had this same choice last year , and decided to go for the Infinity Kappa range , a lot better sound quality than the reference series , for what you will pay extra , go for the Kappas.

Nate.

p.s. they have a nice aqua-marine coloured cone as well.

Being a complete novice in the technical department, how much should i expect to pay to have some front speakers installed?

It's about an hour's labour absolute max. I think 30-40 quid should probably be the norm, although it is very, very easy if you get a pair of speakers that just drop in.
