Help CD to MP3
#1
Trying to convert CD to MP3.
After conversion get a stutter on the recording.
Using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum.
Any ideas what the problem is ?
Have tried all speeds etc etc and still the same.
All the best,
John Catlin

Umm.
Is the CD player using a DMA mode, or is it PIO? I can't remember if this helps at the moment or not - I had stuttering problems once & they have now gone (using the same kit) but I can't remember how I fixed it. Checking the data transfer mode is a good start, and DMA is always better than PIO.
If this isn't right, I'll try to remember a little harder.
If you haven't a clue what I'm talking about, could you say what operating system you're using?

OK, I think that'll be:
right click on 'my computer' & click 'properties'
there's then some tabs...
I think I need to go & find a machine with 98 on it somewhere - I'll carry on in the morning when I can find one!

I'd guess it's as nom suggests.
Go into device manager (right click my computer, select properties, select hardware tab then click "device manager".
Navigate to CD-ROM drive.
Check that DMA is enabled.
Also navigate to your "IDE controller" and check that DMA is enabled there too.
Nick.

Also make sure you burn your CD's at DISK AT ONCE, not track at once, otherwise you get a loud crack every time the CD-R laser pulses on and off - which is quite often on TAO.
Learnt this the hard way!!
