A Journalist maybe not, but you could make a great salesman - I'm very tempted to get hold of one after reading this.
Pics would be good. How much did you pay for the unit ?
Thanks

Well I installed my Kenwood MP3 player last nite. Dead easy as it has the euro ISO connectors, so its basically remove the Philips stereo and plug in the new one. 10 Mins max!
The Kenwood looks very nice in place as it has quite a flat front with no protruding ***** or buttons.
The sound quality - even with my original SUBARU speakers is much better than the Philips.
Its handling of MP3 files is fantastic. It scrolls the filename eg EMINEM-STAN.MP3 across the display and it will not skip even attacking speed ramps!!
All in all a very impressive effort.
The only thing I'm not sure about is the Q button in the middle - its bright blue at night and a bit bright!!
This Q button allows you to select your speaker profile - 6x9, 5 1/4, or OEM - this resamples the output to best suit the speakers - I have mine set on OEM and it still sounds good. It also presets the BASS, Treble, middle settings to POP, ROCK, JAZZ etc without having to mess around manually depending on what type of music you are listening too.
The Tuner is very strong, the old Philips set would lose radio 4 as I parked on the drive in front of the garage - I installed this new set INSIDE my garage and it was as clear as a bell!!
The D-MASK security is neat but NOT motorised as I first thought, but still easy to use. The whole front face pulls off, which is a bit big to carry around but its better than leaving it in the car.
It also comes with anti-theft insurance, if it gets stolen wthout the faceplate they replace it free of charge.
If you want me too post some pics let me know.
As you tell I would never make a Journalist!!
Dr Hu - ps BUY ONE - IT'S SOO COOOL!!

I had the same model fitted on Friday. My comments as follows:
1. Aesthetics
No the best looking cd player I've had but decent nonetheless
2. Sound Quality
Very nice - Kenwood have come on a lot. Tuner is GOOD.
3. Layout
My biggest bugbear - due to the bad layout I find myself taking my eyes off the road or pushing the wrong buttons to advance tracks.
4. MP3
Handles them very well - and sound good.
5. Value
Great price and features make it a must buy for CD / MP3 enthusiasts.

DAZV - The e-commerce package is good where ever it came from - all the better if it is an off the shelf offering - at last some software that works well.
In contrast to the Argos Additions clothing website I used the same day as I ordered my Stereo. My wife had a long list of clothes she wanted to order and the Argos website is SHOCKINGLY bad to use!!
a stark contrast to the car audio site

So how does the MASK feature work if its not motorised? Dont tell me that you have to flip it over yourself. If so then isn't it abit tricky?
What happens if you Head Unit gets stolen with the MASK panel, seeing as its indended to be left attached to the head unit in the first place??

Just a couple of questions to you guys that have bought the Kenwood:
1) Can you plug any Kenwood CD autochanger onto this system?
2) Can it decode MP3s off the autochanger CDs?
If it can do this then I'm getting one! I've got a Kenwood multi-changer and if it could use this to have 60hrs of MP3 encoded music that would be cool.
Cheers,
Andy

Makes sense to me! - get 10 CDs worth of tracks on 1 CD R/W as MP3s and save on space cost cabling etc to put a multichanger in the boot. Has to be the way to go
I'm waiting for the price to come down and choice to go up a bit! - Is there only the Kenwood available so far?? - I can't believe the other major ICE manufacturers are letting Kenwood get such a head start on them!
Mick
