Default New 'Negative' cable?

My 'Negative' cables looking really tatty and thinking of replacing it, what would be the best to use, the OE part new from subaru or get a peice of cable cut to the required length and have gold fitting s attached?

Going to take out the battery and give it all a good clean also.

Thanks

S!

If you are going to replace it, why not consider a full earthing/grounding kit. Plenty on ebay or make your own from Maplin parts.

If you want to make a new earth from your battery, look at using 4awg cable and keep it as short as possible. dont waste money on gold plated stuff if copper / brass is availiable as Gold plated stuff is all hype, gold is quite a poor conductor but it advantages are the it doesnt oxidize/tarnish very quick, exactly the opposite for silver which is and excellent conductor but tarnishes fast. which ever you use just make sure you clean the point your fixing it to down to bare metal then cover with a good grease like copperslip when secured. Additionaly if you want to improve the charging system, replace the earth on the alternator in the same way.
