Default Struggling for a decent sound

Hi,

I have a classic 4 door sti and when parked the audio sounds good enough for my liking, but when the engine is running it looses all its volume / clarity, probably due to the exhaust i have....

Any ideas what i can do?

Tell us a bit more about your setup.

Sound deadening doors and boot may help regardless.

Adding an amp will make a big difference. Headunits generally don't have the power to run components - 4x50w is the peak output of the headunit, this means in real terms about 4x15w. Check what power your speakers require, I'm sure it will be higher.

You can add an amp fairly easily if your headunit has rca outputs.

Again, sound deadening will make a big difference but will also add weight.

Deadening makes a big difference. Just done mine with Dynamat xtreme and has really improved the sound.

Another vote here for sound deadening
Makes a hell of a difference
I would then go down the amp and aftermarket speakers route If you wanted to spend a bit more

Engine and road noise drown out a lot of the low-frequency music signal so adding a sub will help to restore that - I recommend an underseat sub.
