Unhappy CD Changer Cable

Just bought secondhand a Phillips6 disc cd changer for my MY01 WRX UK Wagon. It came out of the same model of car.
My car has the original double din head unit with radio, tape and single CD slot. Not sure of original manufacturer.
Anyhoo, thinking it would be a straightforward job, I took out the head unit to find the spare connector at the back for the changer is different to the connector on the cable supplied with the changer. The cable supplied has the standard round fitting with 8 pins on one end (which fits in to the changer) but at the other is a square female terminal block.
The connection on the back of my head unit is also round but has 13 female connections
Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

cheers
