From: Nottingham - HEY scumbag, leave my scoob alone!!!

The biggest problem is the rear shelf rattles like crazy in the classic shape scoobs, I have a 12" RE sub powered by an RE 12.1 amp in my boot and have sound proofed everything correctly, boot lid, inside boot lid, boot floor, side panels ETC but still have some small rattles. I also used some of the spray-on sound proofing to get in some of the more awkward places. The linkage that works the boot lock also rattled, this was fixed by cutting up a sponge and pushing pieces between the boot lid and the linkage, worked a treat, just make sure you don't put too much pressure on the linkage.

As for the rear shelf I removed it and then removed the crappy OEM speakers, this allows the sub to breathe easier, then refitted the rear shelf AFTER sound proofing the metal that is under the shelf , I also found that anti-slip matting is very good under the shelf to stop the rattles.

The rear bumper also rattles, but have not done anything with that yet, the biggest problem I have is the rear view mirror vibrates so much that it is unusable and drops down occasionally, I have tightened it right up but it still come loose, the windscreen also vibrates and so do the wiper blades, destructive things these RE sub!! the old classic shape is not a great one for fitting ICE in.

Some of us can be of help here.
