Change of speakers
Hi, As a new scoob owner and also lacking in knowledge in the ICE department I could do with some help!
I want to change my front speakers in my classic, Firstly can I just pop speaker covers of without taking door trim off and secondly what size are the speakers as standard and can I use anything bigger?
Any advice on anything else related would be much appreciated, is it really worth changing the rears? etc
Thanks!

Hi Ted
You'll have to take off the entire door trim to replace the front speakers.
Its not that difficult a job to be honest , I'll have a look and see if I can find a link with a guide .
AFAIR you can get away with a 6.5" speaker as a replacement but you will need to make some sort of baffle for them to sit in ... MDF is easy to work with but treat it before hand as it can rot when it gets damp.
If you search around you should be able to find ready made baffles online for your scoob which are usually made from PVC etc and won't have any degrading issues .
Also be careful with the depth . Too much and your magnet will hit the window mechanism or the doorcard won't fit back on correctly.
If you do a search I'm sure you will find lots of posts with recommendations for different aftermarket speakers
Also have a look here https://www.scoobynet.com/ice-2/2985...e-posting.html

From: Nottingham - HEY scumbag, leave my scoob alone!!!
I've just fitted Genesis Profile 16's to my front doors (classic shape), I did have to make spacers for the mid bass speakers, working in the joinery trade I got hold of some 9mm moisture resistant MDF (Green in colour) and made the spacers out of that, these should last longer than standard MDF. I fitted the spacers directly to the OEM adaptors, unfortunately I didn't take any photo's whilst fitting them, I did have to wade in with the dremel to make the speaker fit the OEM adaptor in places, but this is to be expected when fitting 6.5" speakers.
Another upgrade I would highly recommend is to completely sound deaden your doors as it makes a big difference, here's a couple of photo's, ignore the speakers as they are my old Infinity's.
