Crossovers and Amps - True Grip has confused me.. Sorry Nick!.
#1
Nick, nice bit in True Grip... only bit that foxed me was the bit about crossovers and amps... I have got Inf. 6.02CS componants in my doors and now fitted a Alpine MRV407 amp that has inbuilt crossovers (High Pass (HP) / Low Pass (LP)) tho im sure these are mainly for differentiating for Subs etc.
My plan was to power the fronts in HP or 'off' mode and run the output from the amp to the crossover in the doors. The sub runs from my 3rd channel (is bridged 3 and 4) in LP mode.
I was sure I was right about this but now im not so sure... anyone want to give me a diffinitive?
Jon.

Yep thats the way to do it if you have components in the doors and they have seperate crossovers then thats the way to go other wise you just have so many cables going in and out you end up getting lost when i do installs i always try to get components with cross overs makes life sooo much easier
hope this was a help

Jon,
spot on - use the HP filter to get rid of the low frequencies that your front speakers can't reproduce. This protects them from damage too.
Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been building a kitchen
