Default Pish radio reception after changing head unit!

Hi all,

I changed my std headunit at the weekend for one of those motorised 7'' touch screen jobbers. PLaying CD's and DVD's it's great but the radio reception is complete pish. Static all the time and the unit won't lock on to the radio stations for RDS/Traffic Alerts.
I have seen other threads mentioning this before.... What i wanted to know was..

Is it a common problem on subaru's
Is it an easy fix or is my radion now redundant
Can i get a booster from somewhere that i just plug in

Cheers

the rear window on most bugs have the antenna incorporated, you may not have reconnected the feed for the aerial amp correctly with the adapter you have used.

if it is one of them jap pieces of crap let me know if you sort it, all i can advise is find the ariel cable behind the headunit, there maybe a single wire attached to it, connect that to an ignition live some of those headunits don't have the antenee feed in the loom, thats all you need to do for the ariel amp, but the tuners are a poor quality 1 uk tuners a k series and they are much stronger tuners some are even digital

Don't remember seeing a power lead with the ariel i'll have a look. Need to take it all apart again anyway as the Forester pocket has arrived and i need to drill holes to fit it. Might move the headunit up as well.
