Default "AMP" Lead on back of stock HU

Hi I've got an 08 WRX and am swapping the stock CD player (non nav) for an appradio. On removing the stock unit I saw an amp lead connected to the centre of the back of the CD player. I'm not aware that it has an amp and it looks like it could be an earth to the back of the player...? Does anyone know where this goes and do I need to consider it when I add an aftermarket head unit/amp?

Thanks!!

Would that "08 WRX" be a late registered Hawkeye or a Hatch...............

You will find that your "AMP" lead is probably the connection to the "AUX INPUT TERMINAL" in the centre console storage box (under the arm rest)
Will look something like this.....

Thanks don. Il take a look at that. The connector says amp on it and just connects to metal rather than a jack but il have a look when I get it out again thanks! Also is the USB socket in pic a Subaru part? Would
Go nicely with my appradio

If it's a single connector made by amp then its just the standard earth connector. Had assumed you meant an AMP as in amplifier output.

Does yours not already have the aux output in the storage box between the seats under the arm rest?

According to the specs both the G12 (WRX) and G22 (WRX STi) have it fitted.
