my insurance company is axa direct and have to say they are very good price service etc..
have had a few mods high rear spoiler 18"wheels induction kit decat exhaust no problem so i think as the car is getting quicker new brakes or discs are in order so i call them up to make sure i can do them and they say no way and as far as different disks they say as long as it dosn`t improve the performance of the car yes
but forgive me i would of thought improving the performance of the braking can only be a good thing and fitting ap or brembo brakes who make brakes for f1 rally etc.. must be up for the job of stopping my scooby
so has any one else had this problem and what insurance companies are ok with them

I had exactly the same problem with AXA when I wanted to fit 4 pot callipers, they said they would cancel my policy if I did.
So I saved them the bother and cancelled it myself.

Never had a problem with my insurance when i fitted Brembo 4 pots to my car (alloys and PPP cost me extra thou ) , the insurance co (direct line at the time) said that it stopped the car quicker so made it safer
Moved on to Liverpool Victoria in the end who seem more mod friendly and happy to not persicute over 30's for having performance cars.

You could always try a Godspeed kit?
Get the braided hoses as Chris said, go for the 335mm (or 355mm)discs etc with all the brackets, will work in conjunction with your existing calipers i believe.

wont slag axa off as had very good service with them up to now but obviously no good if you want better brakes

I'm not slating them either just telling you what happened to me, if that is their policy then so be it.
My current insurer is happy to cover any brake upgrade FOC.

It was a discussion and we both got a bit agitated over it
oh well
But if they wont let you change your calipers and you can only change your discs then give Godspeed a call they can still keep your std subaru calipers but give you a bigger brake set up for around 500 quid thats why im not buying my 240 quid each brembo discs and going to them for my new ones

Axa told me they would cancel my policy if I changed any component of the OEM brake setup.
I had the same argument over and over, and spoke to many supervisors. They would not budge.
Suggest you contact them and get agreement to the godspeed kit, preferably in writing.
I went with Adrian Flux this year, who seem to understand mods.

Thinking about AP`s for the wagon and called Norwich Union re the up-grade and how much it would be!
There reply was that there would be no increase as they saw it as an addition to safety (being able to stop quicker).
RESULT.

Wanted to fit replacement (non subaru) disks and pads and was with Adrian Flux. Said they would cancel my policy if I did.
Suffice to say a wrote a snotty letter to them about the situation, next think letter back to say its fine no extra premium.
