Hi guys,

Good VALUE insurance is hard to quantify. Whilst I'm not overly keen on spending good money on something which I hope to never use, I do feel its important to go with a name you cant trust who offer a reasonable service.

Spent the whole of last Saturday getting quotes, most of which were ridiculous, TESCO (my current insurer) were the closet but still wanted the best part of a grand.(AND A TRACKER - who wants their car back once its been round the block with a 13yr old at the wheel)

AXA Direct : £813 + Legal Cover + NCD Protection. approx. 730 with NO NCD PROT. www.axamotor.co.uk

I'm 25 with a `99turbo & 5yrs NCD.

Hope this helps

Don't want to take the wind out of your sails - but check the quote is for a Turbo. AXA seem to have a thing about messing models up!!

AXA gave me an excellent quote for my 306, I paid in full, they sent me the policy and it stated my car was a convertible not a GTI-6 even though the online site had GTI6 clearly shown and on the print out I had from the online quotation. When I rang them up they said my policy was invalid unless I paid the extra £200ish to cover a GTI6. I told them where to go and they never replied to my letter of complaint with an explanation.

Be warned!!

Andy.

To elaborate on my post.

Attempted to insure my previous car an MY01 WRX. That came up as a GS. My wife's Clio Dynamique came up as a Clio MTV.

Both quotes worked out considerably less than the real cost.

I used to have my MY98 insured with AXA (and it was correctly described on the policy doc!). They were charging me £650ish. When I asked them to quote for an MY02 they wanted an extra £200 for 6 months. So now insured with Egg for £550...

Insurance Docs have been received and clearly state TURBO 2000 along with the correct registration. Don't think they'd have a legal leg to stand on should there ever be any reason to question it.

Guess its an important point though. ALWAYS check that the docs. correspond with what actually want to insure !!

Nice cheap quote But would this be the same AXA who have taken nearly two months (and counting) to process my claim and who emailed me last week to ask the make and model of my car? They don't inspire confidence. Hope you don't experience the same...

I was insured with Axa Direct - cheap enough, but they really don't like modifications. Was going to upgrade my brakes, but they told me they'd cancel my insurance if I did...

Hhmm interesting points about claims. Guess that COULD be the case with any of them though. Heard a lot of negative reports about Tesco's when I was insured with them, guess its a hard one to call. My attitude is (within reason), your paying for something you hope you'll never need use. NOT willing to pay 2,3 times as much with no guarantee your claim would be dealt with efficiently anyway.

I do live in the **** end of nowhere, but premiums seem to fluctuate so much even from one month to the next so.......I'm a resonably happy customer so far, unless they take the p!ss
