Question

As it says....

Anyone else out there who have got an Impreza, preferably STI7 Type UK Prodrive, or other higher insurance class scoob, who have managed to get themselves and their partner on the policy where your partner is 23/24 years old.

I am 29, coming up to my second year of ownership of my STI7, and want to renew beginning of March with my partner officially on my policy. She drives it now and again, but with only her own vehicle insurance cover, hence, 3rd party on driving mine. Not good....

Surely someone out there is in a similiar/same position as me, please let me know your experiences.

Many Thanks.

Simon

Adding a member of the female sex usually reduces the premium. Not sure about a mere slip of a girl of 23 though

As Mattw said, usually adding a female reduces the policy, about a year back I added my girlfriend on to my car insurance policy and it reduced by £50 despite only having had her provisional driving licence for about 2 weeks. I was expecting a huge rise, instead it went down

I'd say ask your insurer or do one of the online insurance quotes.

Darren

CIS Insurance will add a female on FOC providing no convictions and full license, but over 25, may charge a little for under 25

Excellent cover though and still better than any company I have seen being used on here, although you do pay that bit extra.

I go for quality cover rather than cost

£1157 for Sti8 at 36yrs inc NCB £100 excess etc etc.

I`m 27 and have ordered A STI8 for March 1st.

My wife is 22 years old, and I have 5yrsNCB. She`ll be using the car for work every day.(Thank god only a 3 miles journey)

Just for me to drive it`s £1150 and to add the wife, believe it or not £1100. That`s with Tesco`s.

Sorry for being slow at responding.

Thanks to everyone for the replies, sounds like good news to me.

STI8 + 22 year old at that price, is very good. Similar situation with me, missus works 2 miles away from home, I have a company car and we are thinking of getting rid of her MGF, but when I apporached my current insurer last September, they said no way on my car, only 30+ year olds. Strange as I am 29, was 28 when I bought the car.

So, renewal soon, and if they still won't budge on younger partner, then i'll switch.

Thanks again.

Are you sure that she's covered 3rd party under her own insurance.

I'm 24 and fully comp on my scoob but it doesn't cover me on any other vehicles.

I thought you had to be over certain age to have cover on other vehicles and even so wouldn't this only apply up to the insurance group of the vehicle you insure?

Hopefully one of the insurance experts on here can answer this as its always something I've never really understood.

Cheers

Chris

Exclamation

Mmmm, unsure, as for being up to the value of the vehicle you insure, wouldn't think that would be an issue as we are only talking about 3rd parties, not the value of the STI.

In any case, she has driven it on the odd occasion over the past year, with no problem, insurance is due now and she will be going on the policy this year, that is for sure. It is a risk i can ill afford to take on a car that is dropping in price like the FTSE....

Thanks

Simon

Some good points here which continually back up my quality of insurance rant

Tesco - cheap but poor cover with loads of horrible clauses, can't drive other cars 3rd party etc, high excess, extra for mods

Forest 172 - like me you are buying an Sti8, are you really going to skimp on cover ? Iknow i'm not
