Dear all,

Got a MY03 STi on order which I should get in March. Was wondering about adding a PPP (which are already available) so I thought I'd ask my current insurers (Privilege) for a quote.

35 years old. Full(protected) NCD. Car garaged every night. CAT1 + tracker. Live in Devon (very low car crime area). 3 points for speeding 4 years ago.
Original quote for standard STi = £830 a year

With PPP increase in premium for 3 months (until renewal) = £142. That's nearly £600 a year more.

What sort of insurance premiums do you pay for previous PPP cars?
Who do you insure with?

Grateful for any advice

Simon

I would try Liverpool Victoria when your renewal time comes as they dont persecute you for having a performance car like some companies do (and it should save you a few quid to boot )

Tony

PS, on average its 10-20% increase for the PPP from direct line/priv

CIS - No charge for PPP just write and tell em

36Yrs Old £1150. It sounds a lot I know but I reckon I've got better quality cover than any of you lot plus I don't intend skimping after paying 27K on a car

Steve,
i wasnt overly impressed with CIS (they wanted some horrendous price) but LV gave me exactly what i wanted, different category cover (ie 150 for theft, 400 for accident etc) and i didnt get hammered for having a modified scoob (plus ive got 2 cars on the one policy, not many companies will do that for you! )

Seems like everyones different

I still rate CIS as the best on cover, but lets not get onto the best cover argument again, cos a lot of people think on here think best = cheap

Again
i wasnt overly impressed with CIS (they wanted some horrendous price)
we are talking price and not cover LV were OK when I rang for me only, but the cover wasn't a patch on CIS when I compared and was only about £250 cheaper enyway. When I am spending £25k+ on an Sti8 I want rock solid cover

They have never hammered me on PPP or mods either, no extra, but I have been with them for 16 years and only had two very minor claims (Window and a stereo)

I think it also depends on where you live Steve, as i have an M postcode (ie high risk ) most of the quotes were over 2k and im 34, full pnc etc and i didnt want to pay the 5k plus some companies wanted and some companies wouldnt touch the car as its in a high risk area (the car has never had an attempted theft even though next doors car which was a honda civic lsi did).
It makes you sick sometimes but i now have an insurance co that doesnt want anything from me (except just over 1k).
