No, 29 mysdef and tried LV the other day. Gotta be 30 on the STI

Out of around 20 companies called, only 4 quotes given so far. No answers range from, no performance mod allowed, no group 20 cars, min age 30, and must be garaged.

Have to say, this ain't an easy car to insure with a PPP fitted.

Still looking though myself, so will post my best quote and provider later this week

Greenlight was best for me £817 (standard STI) with PPP extra £80 roughly.

They shall be getting my money in a week or so.

Greenlight have given me a very good quote, but A-Plan have given me a quote £95 cheaper still.

Only problem, Greenlight have an option for track days and additional mods at no/little extra cost. A-Plan, no no.....

I have got a few more to call, then I will post the full detailed results of my insurance hunting over the past week....

At least RAC Trackstar renewal is so much easier....

Subaru Insurance seem to be competitive on the new STI, worth a try. They quoted me £765 .....28 yr old, full no claims etc.
Not sure about PPP but worth a call.

Subaru Insured/Insurance will cover PPP for all models...the STI7/8 is generally £100.00 on top of the annual premium

We're not always the cheapest....but we try

Wink

Ok people

For the STI7/8 community of under 30 year old drivers, here is a cut down version quotes obtained, or not obtained from various direct insurers and brokers. I have cut a hell of a lot of companies out either because of their telephone arrogance, sheer lack of information on screen (ie. cannot differentiate between grep import and genuine UK car), or other reasons that meant I put the phone down without progressing.

For the record, I am 29 (30 in August), 5 years NCB, and 1 fixed penalty from Jan 99.

It is worth mentioning here, that A-Plan wouldn't let me upgrade to 18" wheels without a charge, and they would not entertain my fiancee who is 23 years old as a named driver. Greenlight have said that there will be around a 30% loading for a 24 year old when I am ready to include her.

For me, I have gone with the quote from Greenlight. I was going to have a crack at some track day session this year anyway and so the addition £95 for the policy is soon made back when considering that there track day cover is between £50 and £65 for the day. Better still, the excess on the said track day is only doubled...

Hope this helps a few people out there.

This particular Impreza is such a barsteward trying to get quotes for as other than 3 companies, nobody really knew about the Type UK STI and when you mention PPP, it just adds another 10 minutes on to the conversation.

Thanks god this only comes around every 12 months....

Ta

Red face

I am very, very surprised that Subaru Insured offered no quote based on no garage.

I know that they will provide cover with no garage - so it may be a misunderstanding or something unique to your location or specific experience.

Just wanted to highlight that - I will check in the morning with the underwriters.

Cool

Rannoch

i didn't put any comments on Subaru Insured, but I can say this at least.

They were one of the most helpful of brokers, if not the most helpful. Tom and his collegues did there very best to try and secure a quotation for me but unfortunately, my car being group 20, with PPP, not garaged and having apparently having an insurance category area of 14 (scale of 1-35, 35 being hell on earth).

12 months ago, my postcode came under category 10, which ironically this year would have been possible to quote on, but 14 was just not going to happen.

I believe that SI would have beaten my other best quotes given a chance. In fact they told me this, but I am powerless without access to a garage.

In any case, I have a PPP'd STi7 now, which 12 months ago was standard, and I have managed to secure a premium £450 better than then. Also down to 3 figures, which I never thought possible on this car, my age, and no garage. So I am not displeased....

Thanks

Simon

PS. Track day option as well with Greenlight, come on, how the hell can I complain.....
