When do you tell insurer about 3 points - immediately or at renewal?

You might as well tell them now - it would be odd if they said, "right that's another £100 then", they're more likely to tell you to let them know come renewal time, but at least you won't be accused of withholding information if you do have to make a claim in the meantime.

I.E. Double their quote

Are these the only points on your license John? I had 4-points on my license for the first two years of ownership. It wade about a £50 difference on both quotes. An SP30 is nothing too worry about, unless your insurers are barstewards.

Wasn't on the Glenrothes road by chance. The little sneaky beggers nearly stung me a few weeks back on my way back from Ellie harbour.
I spotted two vans patrolling that road (opposite directions) and I've heard they're always lurking around there.
I thought you were too goody-two-shoes for that kinf of behavour. Not very becoming of a Doctor

I am really quite well behaved Mostly
It is so easy to curl your toes to get by slower traffic to let an inpatient biker with full beam on get past. I suppose the vans don't read their plates

Personally I'd tell them now...it shouldn't affect the policy until renewal, but at least you've told them....saves overlooking the incidents/conviction at renewal date ...

If it's an accident/claim you have to notify as they are the terms and conditions of all policies, but as I have already said no insurer should load mid-term. Remember the risk for the underwriter is assessed at inception/renewal of the policy and the contract is for the period of the policy (usually 12 months). Please don't go testing me on things like 'but if I add a driver the premium changes!' This is not the same thing, trust me I am an insurance man!
