Question

A a friend of mine visted a car for sale today which was involved
in a minor accident 2 months ago and was told by the owner it was
not registered by the insurance, ie not a category A,B,C,D.

BUT when he did the HPi check he was informed by them it was involved
in a recent accident and would be given a category within the coming
weeks/months by the DVLA.

The owner of the car for sale was not to blame for the accident and the
repair work was paid for by the other drivers insurance.

Can anybody shed any light on how insurance registered damage works,
Why/Who puts a car that has suffered light damage on the HPi register?
I guess it would be the insurer?

And surely if its on the register/HPi then the car is worth less to sell ?
Thus making the current owner a finacial loser and having a car that
is less likely and harder to sell in the future due to no fault of his own !!!

The car is 16k and the amount to repair was 3k if this helps.

Cheers WW
