I have just taken a policy with Liverpool Victoria, mainly because of the fact that will cover modifications to the car without an increase in premium. And it was virtually the same priice as Terscos.

What really got me tho was after reading thru the policy I saw that they didnt cover you for Competive rally or motor sport in the car.

I rang them up and asked specifically about track day cover and the guy said he doubted that it would cover it, ok I said its no big deal I had it before and its only about £80 a time, said goodbye put the phone down.

A minute later the phone rings and its the guy fro L&V rining me back to tell me that he had a word with the underwriters and Track days are coverd under the policy

Fantasic service and very nice staff, just hope it carrries on like this

I just got quoted £1100 for me and the mrs on a 5 door WRX MY03, both 33, full protected no claims, and was quite surprised.

Looking at the other threads i thought it would be lower.

I assume its beacuse I had a total loss through theft last year?

any ideas?

Krade,

Can you remember who you spoke to at LV?

I spoke to them today to clarify the same 'track day' issue and I got a categoric 'No it isn't covered'...?

I phoned em last week, and they told me yes I am covered for track days, but not for timed events or racing

I did make a note of the girls name I spoke to, and I also mentioned this on another thread but no-one made any comments on it

Question

Strange...I don't think the policy I have with them is any different to their normal standard one, and the woman (Sarah) on the end of the phone categorically stated that track days were not covered.

OK have spoken to LV again.

Guy I spoke to had to refer my query to their underwriting team.

He has stated that LV do not under any circumstances include the use for track or airfield days.

Those that have LV insurance and think they are covered - I guess the best thing to do is ask them to put it in writing.

Me? I'm going to take out seperate insurance for my airfield day coming up - I can't afford the potential of being the 1st Scoobynetter to fall foul of LV over this issue.

He did go and check qwith an underwriter after I stated that you dont need a special lience, training its not competive and its basicly like driving on a private road.
Just rang em again to get it in writing and should have the awnser monday.

Its probably that the phone people dont know exactly what a trackday is so they automatically say no coz it involves a track??

Krade,

Be interested in the response you get. The people I spoke to seemed quite sure about the answer they were giving me.

Perhaps a moderator from these boards can get an 'official' response from LV over track days for the benefit for the rest of us - at the end of the day, there seems to be an awful lot of scooby drivers that are insured with them.

Just got insured with L & V and the girl on the phone (name taken) confirmed (after talking to underwriters') that it includes track cover ( as long as it's not speed trials etc.. ).She said she couldn't send it in writing because it wasn't an existing policy but the conversation was being recorded. So when I get the policy through I will ask for confirmation and if there are any problems then report them to the Insurance Ombudsman, but hopefully there won't be any. Also not bothered about mods. as long as they know about them, seems too good to be true but that's what she said.

Just worries me that some people get one response and some people get another...

I've only had the same bad news (no trackday cover) from at least 3 different LV telephone people.

As I've got time until my airfield day, I think I will put my question in writing to them for a formal response.

Trackdays - they offered the information to me, without me asking.

They cover you for up to 3 (or 4) track-day sessions per year, provided they are not timed or competitive races. They also need notifying of the events specifcally before they take place.

Sounds good... and, as has been said already, they record all calls - so I'm covered

Krade, can you do the same for me as well please? Silverback, let me know what response you get.

£550, Im 33, 93WRX, every mod box ticked apart from disabled conversion, protected NCB, unlimited mileage but was told no trackday cover under any circumstances and they had made a note to this effect!!!

Still, not complaining for that price!

Thanks

Andy

Excellent that they're not interested in modifications
