OK we sold our Scoob because we got fed up with paying £1200 a year to insure it. Ok we live in East London and it was parked on the road but we were 34 and 38 me Full NCD Wife no NCD as new to BRitian (americanm licences are only valid for 1 year in the UK). We had IT jobs and nothing else that made us such a risk. When we sold we were limited as to what companies would even insure us without a garage.
Just played on the L&V website and put our old car details in £775 (we are now 35 and 40 with 35 as the main driver) and I put the details RB170 up for sale on the board and it was just over 800 - The site has just gone down but these are seriously cheap quotes.
I am very impressed!

Just done qoute with LV on uk subaru inc PPP and came back with £780-£840 on there website which I thought is good.
Can anyone tell me whether LV do monthly DD's or is it one off payment???
Also is there much difference between qouting a garage/on the road?
For the record closest qoute to LV has been Tesco but they wanted £1050 with Tracker!

As for why are they so cheap, my understanding is that unlike other companies, they do not employ an army of underwriters and because of this they can offer lower quotes. This is why they do not bother about modifications - they don't have the underwriters to check how much extra they should charge for each mod.
This is what they told me when I asked them how they could quote less than half the price of everyone else for my 944 Turbo.

this is from liverpool victoria website quote online
We cannot insure:
Motor cycles, vans, pick ups, minibuses.
Cars which have not been manufactured for the UK market e.g. Japanese imports.
Cars which have performance enhancing modifications.
Cars which are used abroad for more than 180 consecutive days.
Cars which are in excess of £100,000 in value.
Cars that are registered and normally kept outside of mainland United Kingdom,
the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.
Drivers outside the age range of 17 and 79.
You, if you live in Northern Ireland.
Non mainland UK residents.
so whats all that about?

L&V just sent my renewal - over £900!!!
I am 31, have 7yrs NCB, 2 SP30s and no accidents.
I keep the car in a garage, it has loads of security.
Therefore, L&V are taking the ****.
Been phoning around today, Norwich union Direct are cheapest so far at £750 ish. Not cheap enough for my liking though, hoping to find better - any recommendations?

From the LV website:
There are a small number of circumstances where we can not provide a quotation, to save you time, please read through and confirm that you agree with the following:
* You are the owner, main user and registered keeper of the vehicle
* You and any other driver are under 80 years of age
* You are resident in the UK
* You or any other drivers of your vehicle have not been banned from driving in the last 5 years for any reason except for a single speeding offence
* Your vehicle is classed as a private car (not a van, Pickup or Minibus) and is registered and normally driven in the UK
* Your vehicle has been manufactured for the UK market, e.g. it is not a Japanese import
* Your vehicle does not have any performance enhancing modifications.
Last one clearly says no mods?

Liverpool and Victoria are wicked
For my first car a 92' Subaru Justy 1.2 GL II, before i passed my driviing test i got insured with them for £930 fill comp which was cheaper than third party... but i had to become a CSMA member through my dad as he is a CSMA member, so i could get my insurance cheaper
...a year on and it is now £740, but i do not have the car now. hoping to get a impreza 1.6 gl saloon/estate as that is the biggest engine size i am allowed and gan get insured for in my second year of NCB
P.S. i'm 19 years old!!!!!!!

Got a quick quote from there site for wife and me on P1, came in at £622 to £688. Stunning!
Phoned to confirm, told me they would'nt cover wife due to age (28) and that cover for me only was going to be £885. WTF?
Went from being really impressed to really depressed with one quick phone call!!
Recommend phoning for quote as net quote don't seem to be very accurate IMO.

£627 on STi5 - 7 years NCB (couldn't prove 9 years - that would have made it £571). Over a £100 cheaper than renewal quote with old company and now got protected no claims!!
Well chuffed

L & V Will NOT!! insure you if under 30 and own an MY01+ WRX!!! I tried to quote from them last year (28 year old + 10 years NCB) and they wouldn't quote!!! Tesco's are best bet if in similar position to me IMHO!
Classics are OK though even if they are STi's etc!!![Frown](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/frown.gif)

Just changed my insurance to them from CIS and saved £550
Well chuffed. Reading through the cover and looks quite good as well
Always helps when you cut the middle men out and deal directly with an underwritter I guess

I'm 32, 3 years no claims and last year with privelige i paid 1400 on a series mcrae. Damn cheapest compared to others which were in the region of 2000 plus! But after reading on here about LV i gave them a ring Monday afternoon and the price.......936!!! I received a call from another insurance company who said they could do it for 830, but they put the car in as a normal 4wd impreza turbo, when i said it was series mcrae woooooooosh, up to 2000 again! so i promptly called LV back to double check they quoted under a series mcrae and they had! They quoted me happy even if it was a different company!! Very happy bunny at the mo!
