Just bought a 2000 Impreza turbo Wagon, back box issue
#1
I have just bought a yr 2000 turbo Wagon, but the back box is not the original. It is a single bore effort rather than the twin pipe type. The dealer(Subaru main dealer) said this should make no difference to the insurance as it provides little if no performance increase, just a different sound.
Should I beware? Should I fess up to my insurer?

"Should I fess up to my insurer?"
Definitely. Tell them it does not increase the HP of the engine, just for cosmetic purposes (if this is the truth).
Otherwise your insurance will be void.

Told them this morning about it. They counted it as a 'Modified Exhaust system', not just a back box (they don't do just the back box) and iot cost me a further £84. Not bad.
It does make it a little louder than stock, but I don't think it would give more than 5hp tops. Told them all of this and now I feel good

As the load on your premium is based on a whole exhaust system, you could proberly do the rest of the system with no extra increase, check to be sure though.
